With heavy hearts, we acknowledge the passing of Mel Schilling; a woman whose strength, grace, and light touched so many lives.
This post is a tribute to honour her life, the love she shared, and the beautiful memories we were so fortunate to be a small part of.
We honour you, Mel, for the woman you were, the love you gave, and the life you lived.
Some people leave behind a feeling you can’t quite put into words, a kind of light that lingers long after they’re gone. Mel Schilling was one of those rare and beautiful souls.
At KoKo Adora, we feel so incredibly grateful to have had the privilege of dressing Mel and her daughter for a Woman’s Day shoot. Today, those memories feel even more special, bringing both warmth and tears to our eyes.
I still remember the message of appreciation she sent, and the beautiful photos she shared privately as soon as the outfits arrived. Seeing her daughter in her heels, looking up at her while they twinned in our KoKo Hilton set… it was a moment that captured something truly pure. Their bond was undeniable, filled with joy, connection, and love that radiated through every image.
What stayed with me most, though, was who she was at her core.
She didn’t have to go out of her way to show the level of appreciation that she did… but she chose to. And that says everything.
That was her magic, in the choices she made.
Choosing gratitude.
Choosing kindness.
Choosing to smile through her battle.
Choosing to keep showing up with love, strength, and light, even in the hardest moments.
In a world that often struggles to choose the light, may her spirit be a legacy that inspires us all to do the same.
Mel was humble, genuine, and full of warmth, the kind of person we need more of in this world. There was something truly unique about her presence, a quiet confidence and kindness that can not be replicated.
As we share these photos of such a special moment between mother and daughter in KoKo Adora, we honour not only the memories created, but the incredible woman behind them. Even in the face of her battle, she raised awareness, thought of others, and showed immense resilience and strength.
These memories will live on forever, and her spirit will continue to shine in the lives of those she loved.
To Mel’s family, we are deeply sorry for your loss.
Cancer has taken another beautiful soul far too soon.
Fly high, Mel. May you rest in eternal peace 🤍🕊️
